Can an AI receptionist book appointments?

The question to ask a provider
Ask: does it read my calendar, or does it just take a message and let me book it? Many that market themselves as booking assistants do the second thing. It is the single most important question and the answer is rarely on the pricing page.
Then ask what it does when it is not sure. The safe behaviour is to stop offering slots and take a message - 'I will get Dave to ring you back and confirm a time'. Anything that guesses at your availability will eventually double-book you, and a wrong booking costs more than a missed call.
How a booking should be confirmed
