Callso

Driving instructors

You cannot answer the phone at 30mph. Brenda can.

Callso answers while you are on a lesson, books the next one into your real diary, and remembers your regulars.

A driving instructor at work, unable to reach a ringing phone.

The call you missed

You are on a dual carriageway with a learner doing their first 60mph. The phone rings on the dash and you obviously do not touch it. That was a new pupil - a block of ten lessons - and by the time you pull over, she has booked with the instructor whose ad was underneath yours.

How she handles it

  1. Caller

Hi, it's Priya. Can I get my usual Tuesday slot next week?

  2. Brenda

Hello Priya. Two hours, Tuesday at 4, same as last week?

  3. Caller

Yes please, and can we do the dual carriageway again?

  4. Brenda

I'll put that in the notes for Mark. Two hours, Tuesday at 4, £72. Booked - see you then.

What she knows

Read from your own website, checked by you, then quoted word for word. She never invents a price.

  • 1 hour lesson60 min£38
  • 2 hour lesson2 hours£72
  • Mock test90 min£70

Instructors rebook more than anyone. Brenda recognises a regular by their number and picks up where they left off.

The maths

What are missed calls actually costing you?

What do you do?

Questions

The things people ask before they sign up.

Will my customers know it is not a person?

She says she is an assistant if she is asked, and she never pretends otherwise. Every call opens by telling the caller it is recorded - that line is part of the greeting and cannot be removed. Most callers just want their MOT booking and a straight answer.

How does she know anything about my business?

You give her your website address. She reads it - your services, your prices, your areas, your hours - and shows you a draft of what she learned. You correct anything that is wrong and approve it. If you have no website, she asks you about ten multiple-choice questions instead.

What if she does not know the answer?

She says so. 'I'll get Dave to confirm that for you' - then she takes the caller's details and drafts you an email reply to approve. She does not guess at a price, ever. Inventing a number is the one thing we treat as a failure.

What happens if your system goes down?

Your calls forward to your mobile, exactly as they did before Callso, and you get the missed-call text as normal. The number is yours and the fallback lives at the phone network, not in our software - so if we break, the phone still rings. Nobody ever gets dead air.

Do I have to change my phone number?

No. You keep your number and divert calls to the one we give you - all calls, or only when you are busy or closed, whichever you pick. It is a short code you dial once on your own phone, and we show you the exact one for EE, O2, Vodafone or Three.

Can she book into my actual calendar?

Yes, on Book and Team. She connects to Google Calendar or Outlook, reads your real availability - your hours, your holidays, your existing appointments, the buffer you want between jobs - and writes the booking to both your diary and your calendar.

What if she books something wrong?

She reads the date, time and job back to the caller and waits for a yes before she writes anything. On top of that, every booking lands in your approvals inbox for a tap, until you tell her she can go ahead without asking.

How long does setting up take?

About twenty minutes, most of it you reading what she has learned about your business and correcting the bits she got wrong. The number, the diversion and the calendar are a few minutes each.
